Edit letter: "We live our community"

The M-ZINE undoubtedly brought a new meaning to this phrase for me. By inviting my friends to contribute their columns, I remembered that our work reflects not only in a physical form, but also strengthens bonds and provides us with new connections that had silently existed, based on mutual admiration. While reading the gastronomic content of Paulo Rocha, winner of Iron Chef Brazil and collaborator of Eric Jacquin's restaurant network, or Giovana Ricci's wellness column, with a captivating story that leaves us with immense affection for her, I realize that the community we are part of is our link with the world and reveals our trajectory. Besides talking about us, it expresses all the abundance we achieve by connecting, bringing new perspectives to a project that ceases to be individual and becomes collective! In this way, I see you, our reader, as part of this community. Therefore, feel free! Our contact channels will be open so that we can together form an interconnected network through gastronomy, lifestyle, decoration, and architecture. The proposal here is not to create something to be followed, but something to be shared and built together. Today, I feel like one of the first to arrive at a gathering, while the decoration team finalizes the details, the waiters organize the last glasses, and the DJ is still adjusting the sound. Nothing like a Soft Open to make us feel part of the event, because it is in this energy that we begin the first pages of the M-ZINE, with our hearts filled with enthusiasm to welcome you. Before this gathering for our meeting begins, I want to express my deep gratitude to the entire Modalle team, who made our meeting in this ZINE possible.

We have never talked about mental health as much as we have in recent times. And it is still not enough.

Health and well-being are high-impact change tools. When looking inward, you invite yourself to a deep immersion in yourself. It is more than just going to the gym, having healthy habits, keeping up with check-ups, and undergoing therapy. It is diving into the vastness of being who you are. When I received the prestigious invitation to speak about Wellness, I thought about how this inaugural text should be. How to set the tone without being clichéd? So I thought I would talk a little about myself, introduce myself, and share how it has been to look at myself: transformative. Just like many of the readers of this column, I fulfilled all the expected rituals, got married, had children, and was fortunate to thrive in my profession. I specialized in crisis management, which may have some connection to my anxiety diagnosed as a teenager. I have always been very restless, active, and bothered by nature. I played many sports, made many friends, took many courses. I did and still do. When I first heard about the Coronavirus, I got chills. I mentioned it at home, we stocked up on supplies, and I began alerting my clients. I imagined there would be something, but I had no idea of the scale. The pandemic made everyone rethink things. A virus out of nowhere compromising people's health. It was more lethal in some profiles, but could affect everyone. Friends, family, acquaintances, day by day, frightening news came: someone is hospitalized, went to ICU, is face down, has died. And how many lives close to me were lost... Friends in their 40s, family members in their 80s... definitely, the virus had no preferences. I, who had always been obsessed with calendars, strategies, and planning, realized, for the first time in my life, that I was not in control of anything. I felt an enormous fear. For myself, for my loved ones, for everyone. Children, husband, and my grandmother isolated in the countryside. We stayed from March to September. When life was returning to the famous "new normal," it was my turn to face the virus. It hit me less hard; I had already been vaccinated, yet it was still frightening. It wouldn’t go away, it wouldn’t pass, it lasted an eternity. Pneumologist and infectious disease specialist at a distance. The fear of my asthma attacking. The children were sick, my husband. Truly despairing. Our viral episode passed, life definitely returned to the "old normal," and with people even more anxious, feeling that they had to make up for the time lost in isolation. My perception is that no one wanted to remember what they had lived through. Forgetting and moving on was the only solution. Physical health was neglected; after all, who would go for routine exams in the midst of a public calamity? And mental health—this was left in tatters. Symptoms of neurodivergence have been diagnosed. Some think it’s an exaggeration, others feel relieved to fit what they feel into a diagnosis. The diagnosis code can be seen as a poison or an antidote. It depends on your diagnosis code, of course, but also on how you will deal with it. With a diagnosis of generalized anxiety, in therapy and medicated, working, entrepreneurship, and motherhood, life showed me that I truly was not in control of anything.

The art of hosting

The importance of gourmet areas in contemporary homes The popularity of gourmet areas in today’s residences is deeply connected to a change in people's behavior regarding home and social interaction. These spaces, which were once more common in outdoor environments, such as balconies and backyards, are now being integrated into the interiors of homes, often connected to the living or dining room. This movement reflects a greater appreciation for moments of socialization, making the kitchen not just a place for food preparation, but a space for gathering and interaction.

Chef's Recipe: Fruit Salad with Iced Tea

Dessert that balances flavor and freshness. The Fruit Salad with Iced Tea was born from the idea of transforming the classic fruit salad into something more aromatic and interesting. I wanted to step away from the ordinary and explore new combinations. Instead of using traditional orange juice, I brought iced tea into play, with a blend of teas that gives a very special touch to the dessert. I always thought that the fruit salad needed an "upgrade," something that really brought an explosion of flavors without losing its lightness. The mint tea, chamomile, berries, and lemon, combined with fresh fruits like strawberries, pineapple, mango, and papaya, create a unique experience. This dessert is perfect for any occasion, especially to enjoy by the pool, at an outdoor lunch, or even to serve at a more informal gathering. Light, refreshing, and fragrant, it is the ideal choice for those seeking an elegant dessert full of flavor, without the heaviness of a traditional dish. The final touch of lemon zest is something I love. It scents the dessert in a unique way, bringing a freshness that crowns the dish. It's a simple detail, but it elevates the experience and transforms this fruit salad into something special. I’m sure that, just like me, you will be surprised by this recipe. This dessert is the perfect companion for relaxing and casual moments. Whether on a sunny afternoon or at a gathering with friends, the Fruit Salad with Iced Tea will bring freshness and sophistication to your day. Let’s decorate and enjoy this unique flavor!

Serra da Mantiqueira: The new frontier in the world of wines

Brazil positions itself as a leader in Latin America in the increase of vineyard areas, with a significant growth of 1.5% in planting area, now reaching 83 thousand hectares, according to a recent study released by the International Organization of Vine and Wine about the market in 2023. I am witnessing this growth up close. A nearby example would be the growth of wineries in the Serra da Mantiqueira. The Serra da Mantiqueira, located in the southeastern part of Brazil, is a region that encompasses parts of the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro.

Has diversity become "out of fashion"?

The year 2024 will go down in history as the year when we witnessed various DE&I initiatives around the world retracting. In July of this year, Microsoft closed its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion department and laid off the entire dedicated team, a decision communicated to the rest of the company's team via an email stating that the measure was motivated by "changes in business needs" and that the issue was no longer "as critical to business as it was in 2020." In recent months, other giants like Google, Meta, X, and Zoom have also announced similar decisions. These decisions were announced by the companies' headquarters and reverberated in offices around the world like a huge tsunami. But what does this mean for the social agenda?

The exclusivity of the opal

Opals are recognized for their unique patterns, displaying a range of shades that vary from white, colorless, blue milky, gray, and black. Often, several of these colors can be observed simultaneously due to the interference and diffraction of light in a phenomenon called play of color. Therefore, a mine can provide infinite patterns, making them ideal for artisanal jewelers who create exclusive pieces that reflect all of their uniqueness. The beauty of opals is not only in their vibrant colors but also in the stories they carry. Each stone is like a work of art created by nature, shaped over millions of years.

Arnaldo, every other morning I walk seven laps around the edge of a square, with the goal of deceiving old age, and on all these days a parrot lands on my shoulder and talks to me. Chronicle

Arnaldo, every other morning I walk seven laps around the edge of a square, with the goal of deceiving old age, and on all these days a parrot lands on my shoulder and talks to me. When I start the first lap, he says to me: it's a beautiful morning for a stroll in the shade of the trees. Great for health.
